What Is Aviation Wire Rope

Function of galvanized steel wire rope: Galvanized steel wire rope is mainly used as a lifting wire rope for anti-corrosion and anti-rust purposes.

Galvanized steel wire ropes are divided into two categories: cold-dip galvanized steel wire ropes and hot-dip galvanized steel wire ropes. There is an essential difference in process between hot-dip galvanizing and cold-dip galvanizing.

Differences in process of galvanized steel wire rope

Electro-zinc plating is a coating obtained by electrodeposition by applying an external power supply. The obtained coating is composed of fine pure zinc grains. Cold galvanizing (or electro-galvanizing) is zinc plated by electroplating or other methods at room temperature. Theoretically, a zinc layer of any thickness can be obtained by electroplating zinc. At present, the practical amount of zinc for electroplating can reach 1200g/m2. , the amount of zinc on the general electroplated zinc layer can also reach 750g/m2.

Hot-dip galvanizing relies on physical thermal diffusion to form a coating. First, an iron-zinc compound is formed, and then a pure zinc layer is formed on the surface of the iron-zinc compound. The amount of zinc on hot-dip galvanizing is only 593g/m2. Hot-dip galvanizing will reduce the mechanical properties of the steel wire. Galvanized steel wire ropes that require high strength and high corrosion resistance are often twisted by electro-galvanized steel wire. Hot-dip galvanizing is zinc plated in molten zinc liquid at 450-480 degrees.
